IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED BUSINESS DIRECTORYINFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR MINISTRY OFCOMMERCE ONDO STATE

ABSTRACT
This research project is dedicated to providing a new system that would solve the
problem of organizations’ use of complementary cards or directory of nosiness
information to share contact information. These complimentary cards are carried
about by their customers so they can refer to it whenever they want to locate
business premises. This process of contact sharing and information retrieval is
cumbersome, stressful and the cards are prone to misplacement. An automated
system was proposed to solve these problems by way of listing the information of
business organizations on an online platform such as a website. This research work
is dedicated to solving the problem of errors prone to the manual method of
collecting, managing, storing, and distributing information. It introduces an
electronic means known as automation, a process that entails the use of the
computer and its accessories to manage data and information at a more efficient
and effective rate. The new system developed would enable business organizations
listed to be categorized by location, business type, and proximity. This will enable
customers to get the location of business organizations and other necessary
information at a faster rate and minimum cost. The application was developed with
PHP and MySQL. This language was chosen because of its easy syntax and
features for developing web-based applications.
